Gregory Despres

On the evening of April 23rd, 2005 Gregory Despres broke into the home of his neighbors Fred Fulton (74) and Veronica Decarie (70) in Minto, New Brunswik. He gained access by cutting a screen door and then kicking in the second door. Once inside he stabbed them both over 30 times to death. Going as far as to decapitate Fred with a home made sword.

After Despres killed his neighbors he packed up Fred Fulton’s car with weapons and headed towards the US. He later abandoned the vehicle near the Canadian-American border.

Veronica and Fred

On April 25, 2005, one day before the bodies were discovered, Despres arrived at the Calais, Maine, border crossing. He presented himself to the U.S. border guards while carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chainsaw stained with what appeared to be blood. At the border, Despres boasted of being an assassin for the United States government and of having killed 700. Which was strange but there was no knowledge of the murders. Even though he told strange stories and they knew that Depsres had to be in court soon in New Brunswick, the officers still didn’t detain him due to his American Citizenship. I have to read more on that you think they would of just arrested him for that stupid story.

There were however other grounds for possibly detaining Despres that were not acted upon by the border patrol agents. “Joseph Gutheinz, a University of Phoenix criminal justice professor said they could have arrested Despres for lying to a customs officer. The comment about 700 kills should have tipped them that he was not telling the truth, he said.”[2] Gutheinz, a retired Senior Special Agent who had previously served with three Federal agencies also said “if the customs agents wanted to exercise their discretion in regard to a person who they believed might be mentally ill, there was also a non-criminal option. In Maine, as in many states, there is a protective custody statute, which permits law enforcement officers to take into custody individuals they have reasonable grounds to believe may be an imminent threat to themselves or others. This authority to apprehend and process a person is designed to permit a psychological evaluation.

But they let him go and he hitch hiked to Massachusetts. Where he was arrested in a routine stop on the day he had to be in court in New Brunswick. After Fred Fulton’s daughter discovered the bodies and the police had Despres as a suspect. When he got deported to Fredericton on September 15th, 2005 he played the looney act for awhile firing lawyers and making strange claims. Then on July 11, 2007, Despres was brought before the provincial mental health review board which found that he had responded well to treatment and was in fact fit to stand trial. A new trial was promptly ordered.

On March 5, 2008, The judge found Gregory Despres guilty of causing the deaths of Fred Fulton and Verna Decarie in 2005. However, The judge agreed with the defense in finding that Despres was not criminally responsible for his actions at the time. Despres is currently being held at Shepody Healing Centre which is part of the Dorchester Penitentiary. Due to his non-criminal responsibility stemming from delusions caused by paranoid schizophrenia, Despres has his case reviewed by the New Brunswick Mental Health Review Board every two years. Where hopefully he rots forever. To this day they are still having issues with him refusing treatment.

Gage Park Murders

On February 4th, 2016 in the Gage Park suburbs of Chicago Illinois 6 bodies were discovered in a home by police. One victim was shot and the other 5 were stabbed. The police had been called to the house for a welfare check on Noe Martinez Jr, who had not showed up for work for the last few days. The victims were Maria Martinez, her two sons Leonardo and Alexi, her parents(Noe Sr. and Rosauru), and her brother Noe Martinez Jr. The police at first thought that the incident may of been a murder suicide. They ruled that out and then thought it may of been multiple attackers as bodies were in rooms all over the house.

On February 2nd, 2016 Diego Uribe who is the nephew of Maria Martinez’s ex-husband arrived at the Martinez’s household that afternoon. Uribe’s main goal was to rob the whole family. Diego Uribe had been to the house often and was also close with Maria’s 2 sons.

What happened next apparently is that Uribe went upstairs and started to argue with Maria Martinez. He then hit her in the head four times. Noe Jr (Maria’s brother) ran upstairs after hearing gun fire. Instead of shooting Noe Jr, Uribe beat him to death with his gun. When Rosauru Martinez (Maria’s mother) came up the stairs to help, Uribe pushed her down the stairs. Then when she lay on the ground Uribe went into the kitchen and acquired some knives. He then stabbed Rosaura several times. He then forced the 2 boys to collect cash for him and grab their Xbox, and what ever other valuables they had. Uribe then led the younger boy Alexis (10) downstairs and stabbed him to death. Then he returned upstairs and stabbed the older boy to death. The older boy Leo (13) begged for his life, but Uribe didn’t care and stabbed him to death anyway. After all that killing Uribe still sat around the house and waited for Noe Sr to come home, which he did with tamales and hot chocolate. When he did Uribe stabbed and beat him to death.

Uribe along with his girlfriend Jafeth Ramos got an Xbox and $550 in cash and a bunch of jewelry they only got $150 for at the pawn shop. Although Ramos is believed to have not participated in any murders, she is still considered to be an active participant in the massacre. Uribe and Ramos had a child together and lived together. Uribe had a clean record prior to the massacre. Ramos was arrested for shoplifting a year ealier. She claimed it was for food and diapers. ?

Police did not ever believe that the killings were random and always believed that the family was specifically targeted, with Maria Martinez most likely being the primary target as she was shot rather than stabbed. On May 19, 2016, Chicago police announced that they had arrested 22-year-old Diego Uribe and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Jafeth Ramos. The best break in the case is when DNA discovered under Maria’s fingernails matched Uribe. Phone records also matched him to that vicinity at the time of the murder.

Uribe and Ramos have both confessed to the murders and are both being charged with first-degree murder and held without bail. Together the 2 are charged with 493 counts, including first-degree murder and felony murder during a residential burglary.

Rachel Mullenix

When Rachel Mullenix was only 16, her and her 21 year old boyfriend Ian Allen stabbed her 56 year old mother Barbara Mullenix to death in Huntington Beach, California on September 13th, 2006. Then dumped her body covered in a bloody blanket with a butter knife sticking out of her eye in Newport Harbor. She had been stabbed more than 50 times with 2 different knives .The most memorable thing about this case that I remember when they aired it on Forensic Files was that they stabbed her mother in the eye with a butter knife (which was lodged in her skull when she was found) and that they identified her mother by her breast implants. Fake boobs apparently are like rolex’s they track them. Good to know.

After the 2 dumped Barbara’s body in the harbor, Rachel and Ian started heading towards Tampa, Florida on Interstate 10. But here stopped in Louisiana. Officers pulled over Allen’s truck and then Rachel ran up to the officers claiming that Allen had kidnapped her and held her against her will. When the detectives split them apart and interviewed Rachel, they did not believe her story at all. They also seen surviellance of the two of them in a convenience store earlier that day. She had plenty of time to escape and moved around freely. She did not look like she was being held against her will on camera. She acted like she was Allen’s girlfriend.

Rachael Scarlett Mullenix- Rachel denied and denied and pointed all the blame at Ian Allen. He in favor did the same. Rachel’s father Bruce still believes that his daughter is innocent. Her and Ian both said the other killed Barbara but they admitted to cleaning up. Rachel also used her mothers alcoholism and abuse towards her as a reason to kill her. She basically couldn’t keep her lies straight. Rachael was born in Oklahoma City in 1989 – the only child of Barbara and Bruce Mullenix – and lived there until she became a teenager. She grew up with her half-brother Alex – Barbara’s son from a prior marriage.

After four days of deliberations, a jury convicted her and sentenced her to 25 years to life.

Ian Westleigh Allen- Ian and Rachel first started dating in May of 2006. At first Rachel;s parents did not approve of the relationship. But Rachael’s parents eventually accepted Allen — even giving him a written permission slip to show authorities that he was allowed to date their daughter, a minor. In return, she needed to abide by her parents’ rules, including a curfew that required her to be home by 1 a.m. On Aug. 31, Rachael didn’t come home. Her mother was frantic. She kept calling her daughter’s cell phone, but there was no answer. She drove over to Allen’s home. The teen was there, sleeping. Barbara dragged Rachael home – then grounded her from seeing her beau. A few days later, Barbara mother relented to Rachael’s pleas and allowed the couple to see a movie.

Allen was later also convicted of first-degree murder and received 25 to life.

Barbara Mullenix.

Rachel’s half brother spoke out about the crime in 2020 saying that Rachel was a victim more than an aggressor. He also claimed about how controlling and horrible his mother was to life with. Hence why he left. The interview is HERE.

J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett

On July 31, 1999, seventeen-year-olds J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett went out to celebrate J.B.’s birthday by going to a party near their Dothan, Alabama homes. When they did got lost however they decided to stop at an Ozark BP gas station for directions. Tracie phoned her mother at 11:30pm and let her know that they got lost and were in Ozark. The lady that was working at the gas station gave the girls directions back to Dothan. Nobody has seen them alive since.

The next morning at 9am their J.B. and Tracie’s body were found in the trunk of their car. Someone had forced them to a remote location, forced them to perform sexual acts on them, and then shot them in the head. This was located only a mile away from the convenience store they stopped for directions at. Both girls were clothed, but dirty. Semen was found at the scene, allowing investigators to collect a DNA sample of the perpetrator. Robbery was easily ruled out as both girls still had their purses and jewelry.

Solved. In March of 2019, 45 year old Coley McCraney was arrested and charged with J.B. and Tracie’s murders. DNA found on their bodies was matched to McCraney through genetic genealogy. Investigators submitted the DNA profile from the crime scene to a genealogical database. They were then able to locate McCraney by mapping his family tree and identifying his relatives. A similar method was used to capture Joseph DeAngelo the Original Night Stalker. McCraney is from Ozark and lived in Dothan prior to his arrest. He had no criminal record and was not considered a suspect prior to the DNA match. McCraney served time in the military, worked as a truck driver, owned a church, and is married. He also went to school in Ozark and would have been 26 at the time of the murders. This man was not on the radar at all.

He got sued in a child paternity test in 1998 and failed to show up for two DNA tests. He eventually just decided to pay child support.

1990 California Jane Doe

On April 1, 1990, a young woman was struck by a Mazda MX-6 and a Lincoln Continental and killed in Huntington Beach, California. She carried no identification. In her possessions were a hotel key and a ring made of human hair. Several people stated they saw her the day before she died. She told them that her name was Andrea and that she had come from the East Coast (Virginia or New York) to California in search for her biological parents. She said that she was the biological daughter of a well-known couple, but never said who they were. She also claimed that she was twenty-five or twenty six, but she appeared as young as sixteen. The day before she died, a man who felt sorry decided to give her money to buy new clothes and shoes. She was killed wearing the same pink shoes she had bought hours before.
Jane Doe is still nameless and any help to identifying her is welcome.
The case was aired on the television series Unsolved Mysteries in 1995.

In May 2017, “Andrea” Doe was identified as Andrea Lee Kuiper, who was twenty-six when she died. She was identified after her fingerprints were uploaded to AFIS, the national fingerprint database. Andrea was originally from Fairfax, Virginia, and had gone to California in 1989. According to her family, she suffered from manic depressive disorder and had experimented with drugs. Her parents had last had heard from her a few months before her death, when she told them she was safe. They had never filed a missing persons report, believing that she would one day come home. Now, the family is grateful to have closure. “We are thankful to know what happened to our daughter after all these years,” her father, Richard Kuiper, said, according to the sheriff’s department.

1987 Dana Point Jane Doe

On the morning of September 20, 1987, the body of a young woman was found below the cliffs in Dana Point, California. She had apparently fallen from the cliff the previous night.  A coroner, investigated the case and could not determine if the woman died accidentally, committed suicide, or was murdered.
A phone number on a map in the woman’s purse led to a local cab company. The night before Jane Doe’s body was found, it was determined that she had called a cab from Hampton Inn hotel in nearby Mission Viejo. When the cab arrived she stated that she wanted to go to Laguna Beach, which cost $20. As she only had $18 at the time, the driver agreed to take her as far as the money would allow. The taxi driver said she barely spoke and also mentioned that there was nothing unusual about her. Hours before her body was found she was let out at Scenic Drive and Cove Road in Dana Point, which was as far as her money could take her.

A few hours later, she was discovered dead at the bottom of the cliffs, by a walker, having apparently scaled a fence and jumped to her death. Stacked neatly in front of the fence were the belongings she had with her prior to her death. There were a pack of cigarettes, a soda can, a California road map that indicated she may have been a hitchhiker and a piece of paper with a phone number to a nearby hotel. Investigators also found a purse that had a woman’s name on it embossed in gold. It was eventually traced to a San Diego woman who had hers stolen approximately ten years prior. She was not familiar with the unidentified victim. She was 5’8” tall and weighed 127 pounds. She had light brown hair, brown eyes, and was wearing what appeared to be second-hand clothing, including a pair of men’s underwear. The woman was believed to have been between 18-24 years old. She also had several distinctive dental fillings. She probably wore braces when she was younger.

The case was officially ruled a suicide several years later. In 2015, high school friends of Holly Glynn began searching for her. They were unable to locate her through social media, so they contacted her family and discovered that she had not been heard from since September of 1987. Her friends soon learned of Dana Point Jane Doe and found that she looked very similar to Holly and matched her description. Holly’s family submitted DNA samples to be compared with the Jane Doe. In May 2015, it was announced that Holly has been identified as Dana Point Jane Doe. Holly was 21 when she died. Holly Jo Glynn was born September 11th, 1966.

Holly’s family had tried to involuntarily institutionalize her 8 months before she killed herself, but Holly wasn’t having any of that. She was described as quiet but also liked to party, do drugs, and flirt.

Although it was determined that Jane Doe was Holly Jo Glynn in 2015 there were people thinking that was her as far back as 2011.More than 20 years prior to her identification, Holly Jo Glynn’s remains had been cremated in a ceremony costing $425, paid for by Orange County on her behalf. Her ashes had then been placed in a cardboard box and buried at sea
